Todd Cordell: Calgary Flames: How Much Is T.J. Brodie Worth?

Definitely somewhere in between those comparables. I can't see a long term deal getting done here. He improved so much this past season that I still don't really think we know what we have in Brodie. In 2 years I think he will establish himself as a legit top pairing NHL d-man. I don't know why Brodie would want a long term deal right now...and it's too risky for the Flames.

Does anyone know what Brodie's camp is asking for? What about the Flames?

I'm not sold on Brodie yet. I can see Cundari taking all his minutes this year if Brodie holds out; plus Cundari is a big hitter.

So, i'm not going to lose sleep if Brodie holds out because I don't think he is worth a long term contract, and I don't think they need to overpay him either.

Cundari is no where near as developed as Brodie is. He played solid offensively last year but his defence was horrific at times and cost the flames goals. Not a chance does he have what it takes to replace Brodie.

More likely he takes butlers minutes.

Don't worry about All Mighty Oil....he's a few short of a full load...

I dont think Brodie would get anywhere near that. Bogosian has quite a few more games in the bag vs. Brodie....I suspect we sign Brodie for 2 years and then he gets something like Bogosian got today when its time to re-sign.

Brodie will have big numbers when he gets the minutes I am confident of that...between 2-3 million on a longer term deal would be fine for me
